We are really happy for our DBIT Year 2 students - Lara, Jeremy, Khine and Chern Chow who won the Viewer's Choice Award in the Delta League competition!
The group of four students created a video as part of their VAF (Video Audio Fundamentals) module assignment and entered the competition after they had finished editing the video.
The Delta League competition was spearheaded by the Singapore Police Force as part of their initiatives to develop crime prevention programmes. Aimed to educate youths on the dire consequences of joining gangs, this video competition was jointly organised by the Clementi Police Division, National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) and Delta League. It would also give students from various schools the opportunity to show off their creativity and video-making skills.
Each team had to come up with their own storyline and film and edit a video that had the theme “Say 'No' to Gangs”.
A video-making workshop spanning almost three hours had been organised with the contribution of Tisch School of the Arts Asia (TischAsia) which sent two dedicated professors to conduct the training.
The submission period for videos spanned from 1 April to 31 May 2012.
Winners were notified and invited to attend the Award Presentation Ceremony during the Appreciation Night held at St. James Powerhouse on 17 June 2012.
So what video did our DBIT team create? And what did they win?
Well, their video entry is titled “Uncle Gabby” which was about a man who lost his
eyesight after he was beaten up badly by fellow gang members when he
wanted to quit. As for their reward, the team walked away with $500 worth of vouchers!
